February 2015 News

Writing this article in early January finds us already in a deep freeze. While I am sure it will not be much warmer when you read this, I hope that all are happy & in good health.

Seneca River is still dark in February and will resume Regular Communications in March. More details on our Spring Meetings will be found in next month's column.

I am asking that all Officers report for an informal Officers' Meeting on the third Tuesday in February, that being the 17th. No need for a suit, tux or tails but I would like to see everyone present at 7:00 PM. We will rehearse our Opening & Closing Ritual which needs some sharpening, discuss our assistance on an upcoming degree with Liverpool-Syracuse Lodge, plan our Spring Meetings and other future projects. As always, Officers who will not be present should notify me or the Secretary in advance. If absent, I will expect your Ritual to be perfect in March - no pressure...

As mentioned last month, Dues notices went out in early December and there were some errors in the notices sent to those Brothers who were members of Seneca River Lodge prior to January 1st, 2014. If you are one of those brothers who got a dues notice much higher than expected, please contact our Secretary to get it sorted out. If you haven't sent in your Dues, please do so as soon as possible.

I look forward to seeing everyone in Lodge in March. Take care & Remain Observant...

Fraternally,

Happy New Year! In December, we voted in favor of our By Laws changes. Thank you to all who came out for the vote in the nasty weather. A hard copy will be mailed to all members soon.

As per our new By Laws, we now officially meet on the third Tuesday of September, October, November (Official Visit), March, April & May (Elections/Installation). That means we are dark in January & February. I would like to call an Officers Meeting for the third Tuesday in February to brush up on ritual and plan our Spring Meetings. More details coming soon.

All of our Officers are looking quite spiffy in their tails. We posed for a photo following our Official Visit in November. Missing were our Senior Deacon, Tom Fuzia and our Chaplain, George Reed. We will try this again in the Spring if we can get everyone together.

RW Piers Vaughn, the Chair of Grand Master Thomas's Observant Masonry Committee, recently emailed me asking how our trek towards Observancy was going. He may visit in the Spring to check on our progress.

W. Ed Fauler recently had surgery and is recuperating at home. Please keep him in your thoughts & prayers.

Dues notices went out in early December and there were some errosr in the notices sent to those Brothers who were members of Seneca River Lodge prior to January 1st, 2014. If you are one of those brothers who got a dues notice much higher than expected, please contact our Secretary to get it sorted out.

Since we are dark this month, seek Masonic Light by visiting another Lodge, attending a concordant body's meeting or just visiting a brother nearby. The Chancellor Robert R Livingston Masonic Library has a lot of great Masonic books that you can borrow. Check out their website at http://www.nymasoniclibrary.org

See you soon,

Fraternally,
